News, and a Puzzle!

It is a curious fact that the Suffolk Chess season does not continue into Summer. We wonder why. Does a Rook require an icy surface to glide down the board? Perhaps a Bishop needs muddy ground to tackle pawns in comfort? Your reporter suspects that the Suffolk Chess Authorities share the common misconception that chess players are cave dwelling troglodytes – wary of the Summer sun for fear of being turned to stone.

Members of the Woodbridge Chess Club will continue dodging the petrifying rays into August to meet at the Cherry Tree Inn, Woodbridge at 7pm on Wednesdays. The club has members of all abilities and we’re always keen to help others improve. For more experienced players, we’re in the process of organising two friendly matches: one against Felixstowe and the other against Saxmundham.
